The Phonetics Sounds of American English (by Eduarda Duarte)

In the middle of the year I attended a workshop about English Phonetics at Quatrum, it was a really good workshop, but unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the teacher who presented. Anyway, I especially wanted to attend this workshop because I knew I would have to study this for the fifth semester and until that moment I hadn’t had any contact with this subject. To present the workshop the teacher used a website called The Phonetics Sounds of American English from the University of IOWA. It was almost impossible to go through all of the sounds of English in one hour and a half, so unfotunately it had to be a superficial view. But it was a good introduction for this semester. The website used in the workshop is very good, we can listen to the sounds of the vowels or the consonants, there are examples of words and also it shows how the sound is produced with a video. It's only the sounds of American English, as the website’s title describes. I’ve used it a lot and it’s been helpful. Enjoy!
